The procedure takes approximately 1.5 hours and utilises a special UV light to activate the Zoom whitening gel. A check-up and clean are recommended before teeth whitening. If you have not had a check-up and clean within the past three months, you will need to undergo these before whitening. Separate fees apply.
First up, we get you prepared for your Zoom Teeth Whitening treatment. The Zoom teeth whitening gel contains 25 percent hydrogen peroxide (that’s what breaks down the stained substances), so we take great care to make sure your eyes, lips and gums are completely covered, leaving your teeth exposed.
We’ll then apply the Zoom teeth whitening gel which works together with the Zoom UV light to break down stains and discolouration. As the hydrogen peroxide is broken down, oxygen enters the enamel and dentin to whiten the stained substances, leaving the structure of the tooth unchanged.
The gel is applied in three 15-minute sessions of light activation. During this time you can simply sit back and relax, watch TV or listen to music. Immediately afterwards, a sensitivity-reducing fluoride paste-gel is applied to your teeth.
Many patients notice their teeth appear whiter immediately following treatment, although individual results may vary. We’ll also provide you with a Zoom take-home touch-up kit, including custom whitening trays, to help maintain your results. To help prolong the whitening effect, we recommend moderating certain foods and beverages that may contribute to staining.
